Obtaining A Credit File From Veda Advantage

In my last communication I discussed credit files, as indicated in that correspondence I promised that I would advise you on how you go about getting your credit file from Veda Advantage.

Veda advantage is one of the major credit reporting agencies in Australia and has data on over 16.5 million credit active individuals, as well as 4.4 million companies and businesses.

They offer a range of personal services such as access to your credit file, identity theft prevention, vehicle and property services.

You can obtain a copy of your credit file to ensure that your credit history is accurate and up-to-date.

The quickest way to get a copy of your credit file is to obtain it via their website which can be found at www.vedaadvantage.com.au there are three options, the first option is called my credit file express, this has a price of $32. 95.

The second option, which can also be found at the website, is called my Veda alert, for $42.95 you can subscribe to a 12 month service which will allow you to obtain updates via e-mail for any activity that may occur on your credit file.

Alternatively if you are prepared to wait there is a third option, you can use their free service and obtain your credit file in usually 10 working days.

To obtain a copy of your credit file you will need to provide Veda Advantage with the following information.

  • Your full name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your driver’s license number
  • Two forms of identification including:
  • A copy of your driver's license, passport, the certificate or proof of age card, as well as
  • A document issued by an official body which includes your name and address.
  • Your current residential address
  • Your previous address
  • Your current employer for a previous employer
  • Name of the organization to which he last applied for credit
  • A daytime telephone number
  • Your signature

For full details please refer to Veda Advantage's web site.

I strongly recommend that if you have not already done so, you should obtain a copy of your credit report; please keep in mind that the purpose of this communication is not to drum up business or free advertising for Veda Advantage.

It is simply to inform you of your options. With the way the finance industry currently operates is important to keep your credit file, or credit history in good shape.

Until next time take care,

Alex Sperling

Director

Veda Dis-Advantage
Although individually, I have found dealing with people at Veda a satisfying experience, overall their procedures seem to lead you into a form of entrapment, allowing you to make a payment to them regardless of how little information you provide and then 24 - 48 hours later you'll get an email, "oh you'll have to fax us some more details now". Meanwhile they've got your payment and as they relish pointing out, "there is a clause on our website, sorry we can't credit that money back".. Now I've hit the weekend and will have to wait until monday to get this information accross to them, I'll have to go through boxes to find my passport as well... So a 24 hour turn around turns into a 5 + day wait and a hassle. Meanwhile they make a fortune of gullible idiots like myself. My advice NEVER NEVER pay Veda for any service. Bite the bullet take the free service. Of course their website and promotional material, in a marketing sense points to all the different ways they can take your cash, for one express service or another. It is shamefull. The guy on the phone pretty much told me everything in relation to my accounts anyway when I simply verbally quoted my license number (the very same number I quoted on the website for the express service). Dun and Bradstreet staff are not as nice but their systems are so much clearer and user friendly, with no nasty suprises. Sheisters
